Facebook: I Can Take It or Leave It, But the Movie's in the Works

June 24, 2009 Web 2.0+ technological developments have been very good to me in many ways. Witness the fact that I do love to blog, love it, love it, love it. However, at the same time, several social-networking phenomena just haven't caught my imagination; Facebook being one (and Second Life definitely being another). My profile in Facebook is remarkably low key, work oriented, inactive, and ... drab? I have written on a few walls (feeling very daring doing so) and have amassed a goodly number of friends, which is very nice, but I have to confess I don't log in that much and if you send me a "gift" or an invitation to join a group... I'm probably not going to see it for a long time. I'm not much of a joiner, in that sense, and frankly, I'm so busy during the week that just trying to keep up with my basic commitments takes my full time. And the weekends are MINE.

So I have to admit that I'm both fascinated and horrified to hear the rumor that "Facebook: The Movie" may be in development (The Hollywood Reporter, Film Junk, and MovieFill all have postings about it). Is there a gripping story there? Maybe. If David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin are involved, it sounds like it could have potential. If they can somehow work Johnny Depp into the cast I'd certainly go see it. But then again, I'm planning to go see Public Enemies because of Depp's presence.

More as it happens, while I continue to puzzle my puzzler about Facebook, the Phenomenon,
Cheryl

Hi Cheryl, I'm a librarian too, I'm from Peru. You're right. I think, maybe some of us have facebook but it needs time! a lot of!
Best regards,

Thanks for your comment, Patricia! Do you know if Facebook is being used by any Peruvian libraries to reach users? I'd be interested to know. Best, Cheryl
