Teen Health
May 22, 2007
I'm setting up a review for later this summer of the new file, Teen Health & Wellness: Real Life, Real Answers, "the inaugural database from Rosen Publishing Online, [which] provides students with comprehensive curricular support and self-help tools on topics including diseases, drugs, alcohol, nutrition, fitness, mental health, diversity, family life, and more." [from the web site] The peek I've taken at the file so far looks very good, but I'll go into it more in the review.
On a related note, let me bring to your attention a teen-focused journal a colleague recently told me about: it's DASH Magazine: Drugs, Alcohol, Sex, Health. It's not listed in either Ulrich's or Magazines for Libraries yet, but it soon will be, and it's got an interesting backstory to it.
The material I've read at the free part of the site is informative and more realistically applicable than most teen-targeted resources I've seen. I especially like the escape plans suggested to avoid taking drugs with no loss of face. A one-year subscription is only $10.00, and “bulk copies are free to clinics, colleges, schools, or any place that does educational outreach.” [from the site] Take a look.
More as it happens,
Cheryl
