Senior Bulletin Board
May 11, 2008

A May bulletin board tradition emerged several years ago.

The idea was for seniors to share their plans for next year using a kind of bulletin board grafitti with index cards.

The first year these cards began simply with the name of a school or branch of military service or plans for work.  With their AP tests nearly done and their work loading lightening, students welcomed this little activity with gusto.

The tradition quickly morphed into a friendly competition.  Students compare their cards and tear up those they deem unworthy of display.  As a craft activity, you could see the nostalgia it evoked.  The color pencils, the crayons, the markers, took these students back to the fun of elementary school.

The board's not yet up, but here's a peek into the preparation.

I too used your idea last year and it was a big hit. We call ours "Seyhawks Leaving the Nest". The kids can't wait for this year's version.

Wow! Glad the idea helped, especially at the elementary level, Lisa! I forgot I wrote about this before. It's just been such fun.
