Releasing ReadingGirl: BookLeadsWiki
July 9, 2008
After meeting the wonderful Anita Beaman at NECC (don't miss
Reading 2.0, a wiki she developed with her colleague Amy Oberts), I had an epiphany.
It occurred to me that I'd been overlooking what should be a huge part of my practice.
I'd turned into ResearchGirl. And for years, ResearchGirl was far more powerful than ReadingGirl. ReadingGirl is beginning to emerge and she is planning to use a 2.0 toolbelt.
I recognize that I need to introduce my learners to a world of tools that will lead them to great reads, inspire them to read or read more, and connect them with authors and other readers, 2.0 style.
In my quest to learn more, and to avoid working on my upcoming presentations (actually this work will actually help), I developed a bare-bones
BookLeads wiki to lead our community to cool online reading tools. Please join this wiki and add stuff--especially annotations--and please help me make it pretty, appealing to YAs, as well as librarians.
Important note: I absolutely adore
Anita and Amy's low-tech label idea! Don't miss their cool templates! What an easy, effective idea!
