On Pandora and other box openers
July 20, 2008

I am very grateful to Bob Sprankle for podcasting my BLC presentation on information fluency and Web 2.0 tools.  The slides that illustrate my points are also available on SlideShare

My big point here is that opening boxes is critical to learning.  These boxes represent intellectual and academic freedom issues.  As we open boxes that contain powerful, but neutral, new tools, we need to also release our guidance, our trust, our hope.

Pointing to this podcast allows me to point to a mistake I made as I presented.  When I referred to a test for transformation in my remarks about Fair Use, I meant to use the word transformativeness instead.

More BLC reflections to come!
