Database searches and RSS feeds
November 24, 2007
I've known for a while that I could set up email alerts for those database searches I do on a regular basis, but I just discovered that EBSCO will also let me set up an RSS feed. You find that lovely, little orange box, right on the top of the results page. Yippee!
This discovery is not just for me.
Next semester, when I have our seniors set up feeds for blogs relevant to their culminating research, I will also have them play with getting their database searches just right. Then we'll push that emerging search content by pasting those RSS feeds into their research blogs and on their iGoogle pages through Google Reader.
This discovery will also serve our faculty for their regular searches on such topics as differentiated instruction, block scheduling, assessment, writing strategies, etc.
Note: If I've missed other databases that provide RSS feeds, let me know! I'd love to share the news.
