Invent an app

July 2, 2009 I wanted to give you a bit of the flavor of Edubloggercon and the scene at NECC's Bloggers' Cafe.

Mark Wagner posed one of the many interesting questions for conversation:  What tool do you wish you could invent?  The conversation is posted on the Edubloggercon wiki.  But I wanted to explore the question a bit further.

So, on the Bloggers' Cafe floor I asked a different group:
What application or tool would you invent to promote more powerful learning in your classroom or how might you tweak an existing tool?
The responses seemed to demonstrate a trend.
  • Folks want a single portal that pulls it all together.
  • They want easy spaces to collaborate, communicate, and share.
And speaking of apps, there was a whole lot of app sharing going on along with the learning chatter.  Among many other exciting things, I learned how to bump my phone. Thanks, Steve!

Curious, Bump is a free iPhone app that allows people to share contact information easily if both parties have the app. Here's a video that explains: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCJ5dyNDfkE
