This week much of the cool stuff, the really cool stuff, was located on websites without embedding links. Curses! Foiled again! I'll still begin with the best embedded link of the week, though.
Everyone's just been gaga over this Roaring Brook Press video of Marion Bataille's upcoming pop-up abecedarian joy, ABC3D and well they should be. Thanks to Oz and Ends for the link.
Off-site thing #1 is very librarian-based, but I think every single person on the globe would find it amusing. Have you ever sat down and wondered what librarian's job is really like? Sure, you get asked questions. But what kind of questions are we talking about?
The answer couldn't be simpler! In honor of National Library Week (April 13-19, and yes, we do like chocolate) there's a delightful video of reference questions on view at the American Libraries website.
In fact, once I located the American Libraries video cache (updated regularly) there were all kinds of goodies to peruse. For example, I very much enjoyed the 2008 Youth Media Awards 60 second wrap-up. If you look real close you can spot Roxanne Feldman, Monica Edinger, Karen Breen, team Little Brown (from two angles!), Neal Porter, and others. I think I found my own face at one point, but it was a bit blurry and distant.
And finally, I posted a similar video to this one earlier in the year, but this particular beastie is far superior. When Monica Edinger mentioned on her blog that she had recently witnessed a Quidditch game between Columbia and Middlebury, I was intrigued. This is the Middlebury student documentary she linked to.

While I think that ABC book looks way cool, it also looks way pricey! I'm afraid it would kill me when a little one, who was of that tender age that needed an ABC book, started chewing on the letters or taking them apart to see how they work... though that would also be educational.
