    In Brief

    July 7, 2007

At Ms. Roy at bookshelves of doom was quick to notice, the good ladies of Go Fug Yourself have seen Helena Bonham Carter (a.k.a. Bellatrix Lestrange), and they do not care for what they see.  I'm particularly fond of the fact that special friend Tim Burton is refered to as, "wearing pants that are a tad ill-fitting around his Slytherin and Hufflepuffs."

And via Shaken and Stirred, we find that apparently The Araboolies of Libery Street got their own musical.  I've always said that full-length motion picture adaptations of picture books never work.  The case cannot be said for musicals.  Apparently they do far better.  Plus I like the idea that the Araboolies are akin to, "Cirque du Soleil refugees filtered through a funhouse mirror."  Cause, y'know, Cirque du Soleil acrobats aren't freaky enough by themselves.

Roxanne and I saw the second act of the Araboolies musical in rehearsal while in DC. I thought it was adorable. The actors were marvelous! They'd just begun working together on the set (with the houses) and were amazing. I wish it had opened during ALA so we could have seen the final version.

Helena might be an odd one, but I will always, always, always adore her for A Room With a View, and I think that nothing she could ever say or do or wear would entirely erase "Miss Honeychurch" from my adoring memory. As for the two of them, I can think of few couples I would rather have a slightly drunken dinner with! I hope they never break up!
