Support, Sharing & More

July 29, 2008
Support!

Greetings! We've received some great feedback the past few days. Folks liked the modules, we're having fun, etc. Some folks also felt a little frustrated with levels of support or ways to share. In chatting with Helene Blowers and Brian kenney, we realized one thing about this group that may not be the same for previous programs: many of you may be on your own, working from home or from your library, with no one right next to you or in your building to offer support.

Because of this, we thought it might be a good idea to offer a forum for support and sharing. As you work through the modules, please feel free to add a question, comment, helpful hint, etc to the posts at our community site:

The wonderful thing is you can SUBSCRIBE to the comments on our community site to follow along with the sharing, questions and answers.

I'm very happy we can respond to feedback this way. I think we're learning here as well as we go along how to smooth out the learning journey for you. If you can offer support please feel free to comment at the site. Thanks. And please keep the feedback coming.

I notice you have referenced the comments feed to your blog, TTW. This is an issue I've noticed with the SLJ Blogs--we cannot subscribe to the comments. I've mentioned it in comments before here at SLJ Blogs, but it has not affected the developers who helped SLJ have feeds. They still do not offer feeds for the comments. As an avid reader of feeds, I REALLY appreciate when the blog platform offers a feed for comments. It makes me really feel like I'm a part of the conversation, even if I'm just lurking and not actively commenting. I learn SO MUCH not only from the posts but also from the responses those posts generate. Maybe YOU can make SLJ see these blogs are truly only "partially" a blog since they do not allow us to track the comments in our aggregators. It is a CHORE to return to the SLJ blogs to read the comments. *Sigh*

Catherine, I have been advocating for this for over a year. Unfortunately, this isn't something I can change right now for SLJ. We are suppose to get an upgrade to the blogging software (fingers crossed) and I hope this will be a part of it.
And Alice, stop yelling! I heard you the first time...
