Johanna Draper Carlson has some news from Archie Comics at Comics Worth Reading: They're putting out
archives of older Archie comics on DVDs, and the Sabrina the Teenage Witch manga series is coming to a close.

Kids should read comics! That's the opinion of no less an authority than Stinky Cheese Man creator Jon Scieszka, who regards them as a greatway to the Great Books.
And the British seem to agree: The UK paper The Herald reports that sales of kids' comics, including my childhood favorites The Beano and The Dandy, are up in Britain. (Via The Comics Reporter.)
This seems to be making the rounds this week; I picked it up from Journalista but other sites have featured it as well: Some bloggers have noticed that the lead character in Emily the Strange bears a striking resemblance to Rosamond, the weird girl in Nate the Great. I sort of wonder if that's a straight steal or if it's a case of two different creators using the same standard character template (see: Wednesday Addams). The link above also sends us to an interview with the Emily creators from last June.
