A Birthday Worth Celebrating - The SLJ Blog
May 10, 2008
It seems so surreal that MY BLOG TURNS 3 TODAY! Whoo Hoo! Go me! Go me! I will
say, due to the sheer nature of technology, blogging ages in dog years -- so this is a golden year for me.
As I reflect on a few name changes and the past three years, here are a collection of things that has made me most proud: May 10, 2005 was the launch of the SLJ Virtual Summit blog:
1) My colleague, Diane Chen, from the Practically Paradise blog has been a supporter of mine since the beginning, and I enjoy the sensitivity she brings to her posts.
2) Fuse 8 and Christopher - I knew them when - they both have been an asset to SLJ and provide diverse voices to the School Library Journal blogs. I met them back in 2005-2006.
3) My friends and loyal readers include: Kakie Fitzsimmons, from Bur Bur and Friends; Kris Bordessa from Great Solutions to Team Challenges blog; and Annie Donwerth Chikamatsu from Here and There Japan blog.
4) My interview with author, Eloise Greenfield was a definite highlight, since her works have inspired so many for so many years.
5) If it were not for Will Richardson, from Weblogg-ed, I would not be blogging today. See my interview with him from 2005. I attended a technology conference back in 2004 where he was the keynote and introduced me to blogging.
6) My favorite author interviews: Wings by William Loizeaux; The Braid by Helen Frost; Angel by Cliff McNish; Tango Makes Three by Peter Parnell and Justin Richardson; Snow Falling in Spring by Moying Li;
7) My personal favorite was an interview I conducted with a woman who was one of the last people to see Amelia Earhart alive: What happened to Amelia Earhart?
8) Authors I wish I had interviewed: Rest in peace, Janet McDonald.
9) Meeting an inspirational student, Rosella Lawrence.
10) This is for you. Feel free to let me know your favorite post on Bowllan's Blog.
Thank you for your support! The best is yet to come.
