Multiple Universes Reveal More Information
May 2, 2007
Nothing so groundbreaking here as a dimensional rift that has revealed the existence of parallel realities, but Netvibes has been expanding their content pages to provide access to preconfigured universes from around the Web. For example, Time has a Netvibes universe that pulls together RSS feeds from everything Time including latest articles, blog posts, podcasts, photos, and even a quote of the day. If you haven't tried a start page before, viewing one of the many available Netvibes universes is a great way to jump in and see the potential.
Netvibes is also a useful way to pull together all of your personal RSS feeds and other information from around the web to give you a dashboard for your browsing. Imagine this as your home

page that quickly shows you any new e-mail, messages, photos, the weather, articles you should read, bookmarks...or however much more (or
less!) you want. And this doesn't just work for your personal information, imagine creating a Netvibes page for your end-of-year research projects. You could pull in searches from the Librarian's Internet Index (all searches there have dynamic RSS feeds available as a link at the top), add a WorldCat search, include links to databases or your catalog, even offer "notecards" for students to take notes that can then be printed!
If you are already a Netvibes user, you might want to check out the expanded offerings available from the
Netvibes Ecosystem.
