MindMeister - Freely Inspired
May 21, 2007
In true Web2.0 style, the most difficult thing with creating graphical organizers on MindMeister is remembering "I before E except after C or in odd words like Meister." Thank goodness for bookmarking sites, and helpful links like the one I am about to provide. Right here - http://www.mindmeister.com. See, now there is no reason for you not to head on over to MindMeister to get started building your first mindmap.
If you need some additional encouragement, let me be very clear - I love this tool.
Inspiration is one of my all time favorite applications, after all, and while not quite as powerful, MindMeister does a great job of providing online graphical organization. It also has a few nice features of its own. Being online means MindMeister is available for school, home, or otherwhere usage. The free account provides a very reasonable number of features and control. The free version gives you six active mindmaps that you can share, edit collaboratively, publish online, and export as an image. The paid version, $4.16/month, gives you unlimited maps in an ad-free version and also allows you to include your maps in blogs or websites.
How easy is it? After creating your free account, click on "My First Map" to start editing. The default map includes great tips, including the keyboard shortcuts for adding new elements (INS for Windows, and TAB for Mac). Each text element can also be highlighted with an icon, or set off with a color.
So, if you like Inspiration, you might want to give MindMeister a try!
