Zoho Creator - Easy Online Applications

April 11, 2007

It was very nice to see the Zoho blog covering an innovative library use of Zoho Creator. Refernece librarian Rick Roche used Zoho Creator to build an online survey application that collected data on how patrons selected books. Zoho Creator allows you to quickly and easily build online applications that collect, store, and report information.

You can take a look at Rick's example, but even better...you can create an account on Zoho Creator and then go to the program site and click on "copy application" to get a copy of this program for your use! Once you have the copy of the application in your profile, you can review the backend and make any desired changes. Then you are ready to deploy the program on the Zoho Creator site (use a link from your page) or by embedding the program on your site (requires HTML code access).

This example is asks about choosing books, but I can think of many other ways to use Zoho Creator in your library. You could ask students and teachers to submit book purchase recommendations, or have a place for teachers to let you know about upcoming projects. Zoho Creator's easy to use interface helps you create fields that accept simple text or numerical input, allow users to select from lists, calculate with formulas, and even handle uploaded files. What could you do in your library with Zoho Creator?
