Introduction

"Fall's bounty" usually evokes images of gardens and orchards, but the publishing world also bears fruit at this time of the year. In this issue of Curriculum Connections, we highlight selections from the latest crop of titles along with some seasonal favorites. By following the links provided by TeachingBooks.net, you'll be able to hear excerpts from these books read by authors Avi, Gabrielle Zevin, and Chris Crutcher.

In past issues of Curriculum Connections we've presented selection and booktalking tools through our "Professional Shelf" column, and this month we focus on resources to help you expand your nonfiction-booktalk repertoire. If it's the exploits of folk heroes and tricksters and the predicaments of fairytale characters your students are clamoring to hear or read about, be sure to check Nick's Picks, which provides multimedia offerings to share with them.

Those of you who haven't already signed up to receive future issues of this free e-newsletter, do so today. For many of you, this introductory subscription is about to expire.

Secondary school educators will discover 11 guides to Beowulf." more » » »
