November is Adoption Awareness Month. The Adoption Clubhouse provides age-appropriate information for curious kids. Start your tour of this outstanding site by learning about famous people who were either adopted or had adopted family members. Next stop on your tour: the "Adoption Talk" section with a glossary of "Adoption Words" and positive/negative language alternatives in "Be Word Wise."
Kids who’ve been adopted will learn some new ways to respond to tough questions that people might ask them, and other kids will better understand how difficult these questions can be. If you’re looking for books and videos that have adoption themes, click on the "Clubhouse Library," where you’ll find a great selection for young kids, tweens, and teens. In the "Homework Help" section kids will learn more about the different types of adoption and teachers/homeschoolers will find creative class project ideas. Finally, don’t forget to check out the "Fun Stuff," which includes puzzles, e-cards, and coloring pages for younger kids. This whole site is worth the time to explore—don’t miss it!
