Dr. Jerz...Someone You Should Know

August 7, 2007

Dr. Dennis Jerz from Seton Hill University provides his journalism and writing students with some helpful advice on blogging. "I remind students that their blogs are public," he said. "Someday, they'll be in a job applicant pool, and a potential employer will run their name through Google, and the angry ranting Web log they wrote at age 17 will turn up."  (Freedom of speech redefined by blogs by Bill Schackner's, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)  So True! But how are educators and parents driving this message home?

On a side note, Dr. Jerz has an extensive website (useful for educators) with links on Google, finding the URL of a framed document and Interactive Fiction.  And IF you've never played an Interactive Fiction game before, DON'T because you won't stop.

{Fyi...this is a re-post from October 2005. It's old news in some ways; but certainly worth mentioning again.}

Thanks for the plug, Amy. I'm glad you found my pages useful!

One small but important correction -- I'm from Seton Hill University in Pennsylvania, not the New Jersey school with the smiliar name.

Thanks again for these Dr. Jerz! I played the King's Quest series back in the early 80s and haven't forgotten the intrigue I had as a kid. Lots of fun.

I thought this looked familiar! Thanks for reposting it.

Incidentally, I recently bought both the King's Quest and Space Quest compilations -- the store was having a sale, so I got them for $10 each.

Now if I can only find the time to play them....

Hi Dr. Jerz,

with the King's Quest series, there's never enough time to play. So I guess I'M off now to purchase the series.
