| You Go, Girl! |
Simon Pulse has reissued Blake Nelson's Girl (S & S, 1994), which was originally published for the adult market, in a new edition for teens. Andrea Marr describes her high school years in Portland, Oregon. Drawn out of her comfort zone by her growing interest in the local underground music scene—and in charismatic alternative rocker, Todd Sparrow—she explores new relationships, encounters new experiences, and begins to define her own identity. The intimate narration, which includes some strong language, sex scenes, and drug use, reads like a diary and presents a realistic coming-of-age story. A movie version of Girl, directed by Jonathan
Kahn, was released in 1998. read more... |
