Help celebrate Banned Books Week (BBW) this year by uploading a YouTube video of you or your students reading a banned book. Participants honoring the freedom to read from September 21 to October 1 are encouraged to take part in BBW’s Virtual Read-Out on YouTube. The criteria are simple: make a video that’s less than two minutes of anyone reading a book that’s been banned. If you choose to share a personal experience battling censorship, the clip can go to three minutes.

Need help choosing a book? The American Library Association has a list of frequently challenged or banned titles, from Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight” series to Little Red Riding Hood.
