9711teenphoto.1(Original Import)You know those teens that are always carrying around a sketchbook or camera, the kids that can effortlessly translate words into visual images? The Young Adult Library Service's Association's (YALSA) "2011 Teen Read Week Photo Contest!" is for them. What do entrants need to do? Simply create a photo that expresses the title of one of their favorite young adult books. For guidelines and more information about the contest, visit here. But don't set your shutter speed on slow: the deadline is October 31. Entries will be judged by YA author Jay Asher, who's the official spokesperson for Teen Read Week.

So what will the winners receive? YALSA will feature the five finalists' photos on its website and each finalist will receive a special prize pack, courtesy of Penguin Books for Young Readers, that includes an autographed copy of Asher's 13 Reasons Why, plus a copy of Asher and coauthor Carolyn Mackler's The Future of Us. The grand prizewinner will receive an ereader loaded with teen titles.
