Dodie Ownes -- School Library Journal, 11/18/2009

What’s an InvenTeam? It’s a group that’s made up of high school students, teachers, and mentors who collaboratively identify a problem that they want to solve, research the problem, and then develop a prototype invention as an in-class or extracurricular project. InvenTeam students rely on inquiry and hands-on problem solving as they apply lessons from science, technology, engineering, and math to develop invention prototypes. STEM people, this one is for you! The maximum award is $10,000 and all high school science, mathematics, and technology teachers at public, private, and vocational schools are eligible to apply. Interschool collaborations are encouraged. Start planning now, the application deadline is April 25, 2010.
