If you work in a public library, you're probably in the middle of your summer reading program. Hopefully, youngsters of all ages have been coming in droves to check out books. By now, you may be starting to run out of snappy reading recommendations. This cool site, with links to summer reading lists found all over the web, may be just the thing to help.
Start by checking out the lists that have been posted by schools and libraries. Of particular note is "Recommended Reading Lists 2010" from the Houston Independent Schools Library Network. The Fairfax County (VA) Public Schools also has an outstanding list, with especially excellent titles for kids in grades 6-12. Be sure to visit the Boston Public School's "Summer Reading Lists" if you serve Spanish speakers. Finally, don't miss Education World's "Summer Reading" page (link found near the top of the article), where you'll find additional lists for grades K-8, plus six "Summer Booktivities." Summer reading really can be fun with a little help from your friends and colleagues on the web!
