Project Awards for Teachers

The Hoenney Center is all for investigating peer teaching and encouraging teacher development. That's why the center, which was founded in 2002 to honor a prominent local lawyer and his wife, will be handing out five awards-each with a $500 prize.
The awards will be given to exemplary projects that analyze student teaching abilities and improvement, or that express students' reflections on the impact of helping others learn. As an example, one 2009 award was given to educator Jerri Davenport of the Principia Upper School, in St. Louis, for her video book-trailer project, which used peer teaching to get high school students excited about reading. The deadline for submitting proposals for preK-12 classroom research projects is August 1, 2010. To find out more about the award, visit The Hoenny Center website.
