One of my library's goals is to increase the number of cardholders. It's probably one of your goals, too, and National Library Card Month in September is the best time to do something fun that will bring in the hoards. But what can you do that's fun and low cost? Our social media librarian, Lisa Waite Bunker, came up with an awesome idea. And you can do it, too!

At Pima County (AZ) Public Library, we're having a month-long program called "Costume Yourself!" To kick it off, we've asked costume experts from several local theater companies–the Arizona Theater Company, Gaslight Theater, and the Renaissance-era focused organization, Society for Creative Anachronism–to hold a costume brainstorming session at one of our libraries. These groups are so generous that they're doing this for free. It really pays to partner with organizations in your community! Attendees will get tricks and tips for making creative, easy costumes without spending a lot of money. It's an all-ages event that we're sure will attract visitors to the library.

We're inviting everyone to come to the program dressed as their favorite character (any character will do–from books, comics, anime, movies, etc.) and have their photo taken by local photographer Brittney Christie, who's donating her time to the event. Each person will hold a big version of our library card and/or their own card to show their support for the library. Photos from the event will be posted on the library's Flickr account and shared on our website and Facebook and Twitter pages.

But the fun doesn't stop there! Three of our libraries are going to take more photos of people in costumes holding library cards on three additional days in September–so dress up and drop by, get your photo taken, and we'll post it online. One of our branches has asked its teen advisory group to take the photos, which lessens the load on the library's staff. And since we know that not everyone can attend the event, people are also encouraged to take photos of themselves in costume, upload them to their own Flickr accounts, and add them to our Flickr group.

Throughout the month of September, we'll share one photo a day on Facebook and Twitter and highlight the photos prominently on our website. We're hoping to have tons of images, which can be used for years to come to promote the library.

And there's more! The Arizona Theater Company has offered a free tour of its costume shop to 20 lucky participants drawn from the pool of people who got their photos taken in the library. We'll be plastering an online promotion across our social media accounts, too.

Let's recap how we managed to make this a low-cost event:

 1. Partner with local business and organizations for a free event with costumes and photos.
 2. Take photos at libraries for free using minimal staff resources (think teens!).
 3. Upload photos to Flickr for free.
 4. Share photos on the web and social media for free.
 5. Get a generous donation of a prize from a local business.
 6. Free promotion on website and social media.

Let's recap how this is cool:

 1. Lisa's creative idea became a reality because she asked local businesses and organizations to help out. (Step one: ask for help.)
 2. People come to the library! And if they don't have a library card, we hope they'll get one while they're there.
 3. People discover easy, cheap costume ideas.
 4. People get to dress up and come to the library as their favorite character.
 5. People get their photos taken for free and posted online.
 6. People get a free prize.

What are you doing for National Library Card Month? Make it something fun and the people will come.

It's "National Library Card **Signup** Month". When in doubt, check the ALA. They set these things, you know. http://www.ala.org/ala/conferencesevents/celebrationweeks/card/index.cfm

Some time before, I did need to buy a good car for my firm but I did not earn enough cash and couldn't order something. Thank goodness my sister proposed to take the loans from trustworthy bank. Thence, I acted that and was satisfied with my auto loan.

When you are in a not good position and have no cash to get out from that point, you would require to receive the mortgage loans. Because it will aid you unquestionably. I take collateral loan every year and feel good just because of that.
