Gr 7 Up-The latest installment of Georgia Nicolson's riotously funny diary is narrated by the author, Louise Rennison (HarperCollins, 2004), who reads in an adult voice. Previous titles (Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging; On the Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God; Knocked Out by My Nunga-Nungas; Dancing in My Nuddy Pants) were narrated by Stina Nelson, who sounded more like a teenager, and she was able to invest the diary account with more typical teen angst. Rennison's adult voice often lessens the believability of the account, but at other times her expressive emphasis adds an additional dimension to the telling. In this episode, Georgia continues her on-again off-again relationship with Dave the Laugh and her best friends from school as she angles for the new singer in the local band. Her parents, young sister, and two wild and crazy cats persist in their efforts to be a constant source of embarrassment for her. In her inimitable fashion, Georgia manages to speak loudly and clearly to every teenage girl. Listeners to this fabbity fab addition to the saga of Georgia will be delighted as the laughs continue. Libraries already circulating the previous titles in the series should add this one to their collections.
