PreS-Gr 3–Billy Jonas gives a terrific concert in an elementary school in North Carolina. He performs some songs on his guitar; the rest are performed a cappella, accompanied by a variety of unique percussion instruments that he has made out of an odd assortment of items such as buckets and empty giant water bottles. A small group of multiethnic children sing along with Jonas on the school stage. A few of the songs are performed on a small set done up as a campfire, with a group of children singing along. Some of the songs performed here are also on his CD, What Kind of Cat Are You? Everyone has a great time singing, clapping, and dancing along to “Bucket Brigade,” “I Spy,” “What Kind of Cat Are You?” “Watermelon,” “Vitamin Alphabet” (with sign language), “Rockin’ Robin,” “Bear to the Left,” “Nocturnal,” “Cabeza” (which teaches some Spanish words), and “Any Way You Go.” This lively concert will be a welcome addition to library music collections.
