VTLS Releases VITAL 4.0 for Digital Collections
By Michael Rogers -- Library Journal, 04/01/2009
VTLS has released VITAL 4.0, its digital and institutional repository solution, which allows these facilities "to ingest, create, maintain, validate, uniquely identify, secure, preserve, and export the contents of institutional collections." VITAL provides functions to allow easy access to digital resources by individuals, while enforcing proper curation and management policies for digital resources.
Some new features in Release 4.0 include access management for users and groups, integration with QuikBib, authority lists, and support for consortia including enhanced functionality for multiple institutions using a single VITAL. Support has been added for a single copy of Fedora and a single VITAL Access Portal within a single consortial VITAL 4.0 installation, as well as different skin and theme configurations for each individual site, the vendor said.
