- East Baton Rouge Goes V-Smart
- Ex Libris Inc. and BCR offer joint training
- VITAL workshop
The East Baton Rouge Parish Library (EBRPL), LA, has selected V-smart, Infor’s web-based integrated library system, to offer its 386,000 users improved access to the library’s collections of more than two million items. Along with V-smart, EBRPL will be implementing Infor’s suite of information management applications, which include the V-spaces federated search, V-insight statistical analysis portal, and V-link, Infor’s OpenURL Resolver. Combined, these applications constitute a comprehensive solution that addresses the diverse information management needs of library staff and users alike.
Ex Libris Inc. and BCR will jointly offer libraries, archives, and other information organizations foundation training and consulting services in the rapidly expanding field of digital preservation. “The training will include an overview of digital preservation as well as courses on policy and planning for digital preservation and risk assessment planning and implementation,” the vendors said. These courses, available online and in a classroom format, will provide libraries with a foundation for implementing a digital preservation system such as Ex Libris Rosetta. Supplementary consulting services to meet the specific needs of each organization will be offered as well.
VTLS is sponsoring a workshop for its VITAL repository software on May 21 at the 4th Annual Open Repositories Conference in Atlanta at the Georgia Institute of Technology Hotel and Conference Center and Global Learning Conference Center. The workshop is open to all researchers, repository managers, and “anyone interested in discussing the challenges facing modern repositories for discovery, access, preservation and presentation,” the vendor said. The workshop will cover a general overview of VITAL 4.0 features, a discussion of the future of VITAL, and a Q&A with Heather Myers, VITAL product manager, and Joe Liversedge, VITAL development manager.
