EBSCO Publishing has purchased the AgeLine® database, formerly produced by AARP. AgeLine is the premier source for the literature of social gerontology and includes aging-related content from the health sciences, psychology, sociology, social work, economics, and public policy. AgeLine also includes information for professionals working in aging-related fields and for consumers. EBSCO Publishing president Tim Collins says purchasing AgeLine, which has been on its EBSCOhost platform for many years, allows the company to continue to offer the database to its customers: “AgeLine is a tremendous resource that fits well with our existing mix of products, and we look forward to offering it to libraries and continuing to strengthen the content it provides.”
Polaris Library Systems has announced six new library customers throughout North America that have selected its integrated library system solution. They are Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, Ont., Canada; Concordia Parish Library, LA; Merrimack School District, NH; Mesa Public Library, AZ; Natchez Adams Wilkinson Library Service, MS; and Palm Springs Public Library, CA.
Serials Solutions has added several new participants in its new Summon™ web-scale discovery service. Thomson Reuters has come aboard, allowing records from Web of Science® to be indexed by the service and enabling citation counts to appear in search results for subscribing customers. The Summon™ service is a pioneer in providing single search box access to the breadth of library collections—from books and videos to e-resources at the article level. Customer libraries will have the option to allow users to view the citing items and link directly to them in Web of Science. Additionally, the University of South Australia is the first commercial adoption in Australia. Among the variety of U.S. universities embracing the service is Arizona State.
