School Library Journal Wins AEP Award for Illustration

School Library Journal was awarded a 2005 Distinguished Achievement Award for illustration from the Association of Educational Publishers (AEP) June 8. The award honors the work of illustrator Dave Cutler, which appeared in SLJ’s January 2004 feature article "The Myopic American," by Stephen Roxburgh. News and features editor Rick Margolis accepted the award on behalf of the magazine at a ceremony held at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C.

The magazine was also selected as a finalist in two other categories—best department or column (an editorial by former SLJ editor-in-chief Evan St. Lifer called “Lightning in a Bottle,” in the February 2004 issue) and for the best single issue commemorating a special event or anniversary (the November 2004 issue, commemorating SLJ’s 50th anniversary).

The prestigious AEP Awards are awarded annually and honor the very best in educational publishing.
