Teens Know Best -- School Library Journal, 04/22/2008
This is a cute story, though by no means is it groundbreaking. But what it lacks in originality, it makes up for in a memorable cast of characters that jump off the page. The story moves quickly, and it doesn't take half of the book for the Ellie, the main character, to meet the guy that she falls for, which seems to be the custom in other teenage romance novels. Ellie is a really good character. The narration and her dialogue were very natural and I felt like I could really relate to her. And even though I knew the ending from reading the back of the book, it was still fun to read about the process of her falling for him and the bumps along the way. I liked the little mysteries in the book, like where Connor actually lived and what was going on with Jake and Kirsten. These were a nice addition to the rest of the story and the romance.
The cover reveals just enough about the story of the book without giving too much away, and I liked the eyes on the back cover - when I turned the book over and saw the expression of happiness, excitement, and surprise portrayed by that image, it made me want to read the book. I do have a bit of an issue with the cover photograph because it doesn't match with the description of Ellie from the book. A girl with the size of chest that Ellie has WOULD NOT wear a shirt with spaghetti straps, especially if she's uncomfortable with the size of her breasts.
