Godbersen, Anna. The Luxe. Harper Collins Publishers. Oct. 2008 (pbk.) ISBN: 978-0-06-134568-5.

-- School Library Journal, 6/17/2008 7:31:00 AM

Gr 10 and up. The Luxe was interesting from start to finish. The characters were well developed and this was easily recognized because your opinions are changing throughout the book on the characters. It slowly reveals the different layers of people which makes the book even more interesting. The most compelling part of the book was how the author was able to create such juicy gossip through things that wouldn't be considered scandalous in today's world. It conveyed the concept that this doesn't take place in the modern world.

The Luxe's cover was enticing in every way. The ball gown that cascades over the cover is beautiful and gives a accurate sense of extravagance. It's hard to imagine a better book. I finished it swiftly and enjoyed it throughly. This book is able to create a world full of ball gowns, betrayal, and the serious pressure to be perfect. - Molly W., age 14
