Dunlap, Susanne. The Musician's Daughter. Bloomsbury. Dec. 2008. ISBN: 978-1-59990-332-3. Gr 7-11.

-- School Library Journal, 1/14/2009

For people who liked the way The Luxe (HarperCollins, 2007) took you back to older times, you'll enjoy this, which is more suspenseful and intriguing. This book is very interesting even at the lulls which are key since this book has such a slow build.

The author has been able to put a tragic event in, but with a purpose. It bothers me a lot when authors try to write such a sad story when there isn't a point but just to make it sad (ahem, Living Dead Girl, ahem). I think, however, that in this case the author killed a character with a higher meaning to the overall story which made it all the more interesting in my eyes.

The cover is very beautiful and depicts what I would think the character would look like very well. – Mollie W., age 14
