From San Antonio: The cowboy boot documentary
July 1, 2008

I will work on my more serious reflections from NECC in the airport, I promise.

But part of the fun for many of us bloggers was getting to know those whose writing we already know well, in a far more personal way.  It's occasionally fun to discuss something other than learning and schools, or something not normally followed by a version number.

You'll get a feel for the energy and the spirit of my personal learning network (which may just overlap with yours) when you view this little video that asks the provocative question:
Cowboy boots: fashion forward or fashion faux pas?
Most of this conference documentary was shot in the magical space we call, the Bloggers' Cafe.

See if you can identify those bloggers who chose to reflect on this thoughtful query. (See below for their links to their blogs.) Please also take some time to help David solve his mustache issue.

No one actually asked, but I thought I'd share anyway.

My own collection:

Note: None of these boots made it to San Antonio.

Says the 20-something reader, cowboy boots are very in with the hipster crowd. the trick is wearing them without the rest of the western wear to avoid it looking costume-y.

Emily, as always, the best fashion advice. Jude, was it that you recognize everyone or did I go too far this time?

A fair sampling of opinions of the folks at NECC - LOL. As a native Texan, I am always pained when boots are treated like a fashion accessory - in the right context they are not only fashion forward, they are required. - Out in the pasture, when riding, or when going to the Broken Spoke or Greune Hall to do some serious two-stepping. - but in the wrong hands they turn into a piece of a 'Western' costume. Guess it just all depends.
