    Children's Literary Cafe: Cybils Kick-Off

    November 13, 2009

This past Saturday, my library had the pleasure of hosting some of the representatives of the Cybils organizing committee for a Children's Literary Cafe discussion with the public.  These women included Pam Coughlan of MotherReader, Susan Thomsen of Chicken Spaghetti, Liz Burns of Tea Cozy, and Anne Bowles Levy who helped to found the Cybils Awards in the first place.

The talk actually could have gone for longer than the usual hour, considering how many topics we covered.  Discussion cover how one deals with marketing teams, the role of blogs in libraries, the Cybils, our own legitimacy and desire for transparency, etc.

Melanie Hope Greenberg was kind enough to take pictures of the event.  Here you can see everyone discussing various matters fervently, whilst I plug away at a laptop.  From left to right it's me, Susan, Liz, Anne, and Pam.

And here you can see Anne showing off the fancy dancy and rather beautiful Cybils pen and case, which the winners are awarded.

Caveat:  Melanie took these pictures when I turned to her in the audience and hissed loudly, "Melanie!  Take pictures!"  So they may not be as off-the-cuff as they appear.

Thanks to Melanie for the shots and thanks to everyone who showed up!
