    Delicious Post-Christmas Tidbits

    December 27, 2007

    • If you guys got the Special Double Issue of the December 28 - January 4th Entertainment Weekly (and really, who didn't?) then turn to page 70. It's the "Celebrity Must List" where famous people talk about the things they like. And look! Isn't that Julia Roberts? What's on her "must list"? Could it be . . . . LEONARDO THE TERRIBLE MONSTER? It most certainly could be. She even remembers Mo's name. Nicely played, my man.

    • So apparently there is a blog out there created by ten Canadian publishers' reps. Called Dewey Divas and Dudes, the site is primarily meant to talk about those books that they don't get to promote in person. It's not just children's literature, but there's a healthy enough smattering of it to make this a blog to definitely watch.

    • Author Laini Taylor was less than impressed with the most recent Golden Compass movie, and she's not afraid to tell you why. If you have seen the film and found yourself unimpressed, or you've loved the book and not seen the movie, this definitely gives you stuff to chew on. I wasn't as disappointed by GC as some, but maybe my expectations were lower.

    • Yet again I forgot to participate in this month's Carnival of Children's Literature. Fortunately for everyone, the world is full of bloggers far smarter and on the ball than I. This month, Big A little a is hosting the carnival. Go show your support.

    • Thanks to Gwen at Shaken and Stirred I have located my next Animal That Should Have Its Own Picture Book: Glowing cats. Which is to say, everything a cat would hate, night-wise.

Before I forget, Meredith is having me read, "The Golden Compass" per your suggestion years ago. We're going to compare the movie to the book. I know this has nothing to do with today's blog but I thought I'd mention this to you before I forget..

Belated best wishes to you, dear Betsy, and hearty heartfelt congratualtions on the book deal. Nice to see all that expertise being put to good use.
