Snowflakes for Robert's Snow: Day Five
December 7, 2007

It's the final countdown! Do da do do.... do da do bum bum ... bum bum bum bum bum bum...

?

What?  You don't like Europe?

I give up.  What on earth are you doing?

Keeping it real, man!  These are my slick new shades.

Uh-huh.

I mean, if you can go around wearing hats and wigs . . .

So you're just trying to make a point then?  Silly, boy.  Give them here.

Nuh-uh.  This is the way I'm gonna be from now on.  I'm living my life.  Don't rain on my parade.  Don't stop thinking bout  . . . hey!

(mild scuffle)

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the last day of the auction of the Robert's Snow snowflakes for cancer research.

(pout)

Come on, baby.  You know I can't do it without you.

Can I have the shades back?

(beat)
No.

Fine.  Yes, folks it's almost over.  Here are the results as of 9:00 p.m. last night.  Now you're going to see a lot of spontaneous increases right before the auction ends today.  What time does that happen, Bets?

Around 5:00 p.m. according to the website.  Of course, whether that's 5:00 eastern standard time, I don't know.  Whatever the case, that's when it's a done deal.  Think we're going to see a lot of last minute bids?

Yes I do, m'am.  But let's look at how well everyone has done.

That's right, Fuseman.  Not a single snowflake remains unbid upon.  And at 150 smackers a pop, that's not pocket change.

Tell me about it.  The Mo Willems "Yikes!" snowflake now goes for $500 where once it went for less.

The Jeremy Tankard "Lucky Bird" now pulls in a cool $525.  Not surprising considering how great his book was this year.

Please.  You just like that he's tall.  The tree topper you once coveted, "Grace" by Linda Wingerter is a mere $550.  That's low by my count.

Agreed.  I predict last minute bidding wars on that one.  Ditto the gorgeous "Cupid and Psyche" by Rebecca Guay.

Yep.  Well, that rounds out our coverage of this final day of the auction.  I hope that all of you get the pieces you most desire.  A happy holiday to you and may you find cheer in your loved ones in the coming cold months ahead.

Why, Fuseman!  That was positively poetic!

I do have my softer side.  Now, my sunglasses, please.

Aaaaaaaah.
