Video Sunday: "It's Not Appetizing. Why Do You Think the Guy Doesn't Want to Eat it for 30 Pages?"

Someone should go out and systematically characterize the different levels of nerdom out there.  Otherwise, how am I suppose to catalog myself when I fall goofy-in-love with a video as nerdalicious as this?  A group of anti-Walmart advocates have found the perfect way to make their case: spoof Harry Potter.  The result is an oddly loving take on the Potter world.  There are three low-rent videos out there, but this one (it's the Thriller music I loved) is the best of them.

If Walmart doesn't sue them, won't Warner Brothers?  Ah parody law.  How I love you.  Thanks to Children's Illustration for the link.

I attended a recent Greenwillow preview open house thingy thing a week or so ago and had a lovely time there.  In fact I got to meet Patrick Arrasmith, a man who is probably best known for providing the covers and interior illustrations to Joseph Delaney's Last Apprentice series.  If you have not read any of these books, I advise you to do so immediately, particularly if you know of any child that is desperate for something "scary".  Arrasmith's scratchboard work is remarkably beautiful and we were lucky that Ron Hogan with Galleycat was also at the event with his camera because he was able to talk to Patrick a little about his work.  Observe:

As an additional note, Mr. Arrasmith was once a Hot Man of Children's Illustration.  And apparently I put a photo up of the WRONG guy on the post.  Adding insult to injury, I even said that the picture wasn't very good because he looked less attractive in it.  Yeah.  That's the kind of high-quality journalism you get from an outfit run by me.  Sheesh.  Thanks to Educating Alice for this link.

I thought about saving this next video for next Sunday since (as you can see) I wasn't wanting for material this week.  But it's just so delicious I'll do it now.  It's funny how that one particular judge is just obsessed with Sam's unnamed friend from the book and can't let go of his absence.

Sure, this next book trailer is affective.  But let us admit right here and now that illustrator Paul Rogers is working at a distinct advantage.  If he'd created the picture book version of the song, say, My Humps, it certainly wouldn't be as affective as this pretty little book trailer.  I mean, how wrong can you really go with Dylan?

I guess you could make a picture book version of Everybody Must Get Stoned.  That might not work.  Still . . . Thanks to Children's Illustration for the link.

And finally, YouTube tells me that this video is "high quality".  I'm not so sure.  But as bizarre library-based music videos go . . . nope.  Still pretty weird.  Good for a larf though.
