Shooting Susan

Photographer Brian Davis actually shot Susan in his LA studio. Then he went out to the desert to capture imagery that could be from the novel. Then Brian and Mark Tuchman, SLJ’s art director, collaborated on the final product, which sort of morphs the various components together (how I don’t really understand.) I insisted that we get a dog in there! The end result feels real, surreal, and a bit magical—all at the same time.
