I love going to Book Expo America, the annual convention for the book publishing industry. Where else can you rub shoulders with so many booklovers, not to mention authors and illustrators? This last week I spotted Kazu Kibuishi (Amulet, Scholastic), Dr. Ruth (Dr. Ruth's Guide to Teens and Sex Today, Teacher's College Press, Sept. ), and Mary Pearson (The Adoration of Jenna Fox, Holt, all 2008). Not to mention finding Ray Bradbury hanging out in the Librarian's Lounge. What was hot among the teen titles? Angels and demons, mystery/coming of age genre blenders, and gritty urban settings. - Dodie Ownes, Editor
