Dairy of a Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever (Amulet), the sixth book in Jeff Kinney's bestselling series, goes on sale November 15-and to coincide with this event the author is hitting the road to offer fans and an unprecedented east coast book tour.
Lucky kids in New Jersey, Washington, DC, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida will help celebrate the 6-million-copy release of Cabin Fever, which deals with the Heffley family being trapped indoors after an unexpected blizzard. Taking cues from the new book's storyline, the unique traveling snowstorm will feature real snow made on-site at each event by the Wimpy Kid snow truck, custom-designed Wimpy Kid games, winter-weather refreshments, and more.
"We wanted to do something really special to celebrate the release of Cabin Fever, which has a winter theme," says Kinney. "We thought it would be a lot of fun to travel down the coast with a snow-making truck and to create an instant blizzard at our big stops. We're especially excited to visit places where the kids have never seen snow!"
With the release of Cabin Fever, there will be more than 58 million copies of the "Wimpy Kid" series in print in North America.
Thousands of fans are expected to attend the six snow-filled events. The Wimpy Kid Rolling Blizzard tour starts November 15 at the Barnes & Noble in Cherry Hill, NJ. It continues south to Politics & Prose in Washington DC, on November 16, followed by bggb books in Richmond, VA, on November 17. Be on the look out for the tour bus at Park Road Books in Charlotte, NC, on November 18, followed by Little Shop of Stories in Decatur, GA, on November 19. Everything culminates at the Miami Book Festival on Sunday, November 20.
Kinney will also speak to school groups on behalf of booksellers along the route and sign books at the Books-A-Million store in Kissimmee, FL, on November 21. Free tickets are limited and the distribution is handled by each store.
