K-Gr 2—A very basic introduction to the life cycles of several plants and animals that are commonly studied with very young children. The books on butterflies, turtles, and frogs provide a thorough but simplified version of the various stages of the creatures' lives. Sunflowers, apple trees, and beans are selections from the plant kingdom. Each book is designed with three to four simple sentences set opposite large, close-up photographs that complement the text.
VERDICT Great for science corners in classrooms and most elementary school library collections.
