Gr 3-7–Broken into two parts (a section for reading and a daily journal section), Nafousi’s book takes the complex concept of manifesting—defined here as “using the power of your mind to positively change your life”—and breaks it down into approachable and easily digestible fragments for kids to understand and apply to their lives. The first section sets out four steps to manifesting: “understanding our emotions,” “confidence and self-belief,” “gratitude,” and “goal-setting.” Each of the four steps is broken down further with clear-cut examples, scenarios, short journaling prompts, tips, action items, and more. The journal portion includes seven weeks’ worth of guided templates for readers to apply the steps learned in section one, along with new affirmations. Nafousi presents all of the information in an accessible tone without condescension. Most importantly, the steps are simple and achievable, with encouragement for readers to go at their own pace. Librarians should note that the book includes spaces for readers to write in their own answers throughout, plus several pages of fill-in journal prompts in the back half of the volume.
VERDICT Nafousi offers an uplifting, approachable, and comprehensive guide for kids to learn how to navigate tough emotions and reframe their mindsets.
