Gr 3–6—In this spiral bound how-to book, readers will find a variety of activities that they can do at home with just a few materials and minimal adult supervision. The types of activities vary from simple science experiments to arts and crafts projects to magic tricks to cooking and more, such as "Play with Shadow Puppets," "Get Ready to Go Camping," and "Make Your Own Chia Head." Dower devotes a page or spread to each activity. Each page is a different color, and the directions are rendered in a small typeface, which makes reading the text difficult on the darker backgrounds. The instructions are fairly brief and feature drawings rather than photographs, so completing the projects may be challenging. There is a check-off box at the end of each activity with a space to write the date completed.
VERDICT Though this title may have been envisioned as a bucket list of activities for tweens, the execution is a bit lacking.
