PreS-Gr 1—Those familiar with Wick's other books will be happy to pick up this Christmas board book version, created with preschoolers in mind. Children are invited to search cluttered color photos to find familiar items such as a basket, a dog, a snowman, and much more. The text is very simple, with approximately 10 short words per page. The items that the children must look for are pictured at the bottom of the page, making the search a bit easier. Some of the pages show hung stockings or a wreath on a door, while others might have a tiny Christmas tree hidden amongst the other items on the page.
VERDICT Preschoolers and kids in younger grades will enjoy the hunt, but despite the board book format, toddlers may find it too hard to find the objects in the photos.—Graciela Gallegos Los Angeles Public Library
