Gr 10 Up–Opposites attract, and self-acceptance soars in another unputdownable romance from Adler, following good girl Evie’s attempts to reinvent herself at boarding school while running away from heartbreak at home. When her full name (Everett) lands her in a boys’ dormitory, Evie must make friends with the upstairs boy toy and his stoner roommate, who happens to be looking for a reinvention of his own. Evie and Salem (no, he won’t tell you his real name) make a deal to help each other be something new, against a backdrop of boarding school dating drama, new friendships, emerging crises back home, and more. Adler’s prose is swift and funny, and full of banter and a to-be-expected amount of cursing. Evie and Salem are well-realized, their school comes to life on the page, and Adler knows how to land a love story with a twirl.
VERDICT For fans of her other romances and those by Kasie West, Sophie Gonzales, and Emma Lord, this boarding school friends-to-lovers story is a delight.
