Gr 6 Up–Yu is back—this time, as Yuta, pulled from a ramen shop in Japan and foisted into the world of Night Raven College just before final exams. Many hope to make the top 50 exam score list, but when certain members fail, it is revealed that several students entered into an agreement with Octavinelle’s housewarden, the dastardly Azul Ashengrotto. Many students gave something valuable as collateral and are now stuck in a binding contract to do Azul’s every bidding, but Yu and Jack Howl from the Savanaclaw dorm are on the case to figure out how to free their friends before Azul works them to the bone. Octavinelle makes mention of the events in the previous volume, Savanaclaw, which also happens after Heartslabyul, so readers would benefit from having read the books in order along with a familiarity with the mobile game.
VERDICT Purchase where there is demand for continued exploration for the Twisted Wonderland expanded universe and interest in the mobile game.
