Disney Twisted-Wonderland: The Manga; Book of Savanaclaw, Vol. 1

Gr 6 Up–After the events in the first series, “Disney Twisted-Wonderland: Book of Heartslabyul,” Yu is back in a new story and is female this time, potentially as a nod to the character creation choice in the mobile game the manga is based on. This story is centered around Spelldrive—Night Raven College’s annual tournament where teams cast spells to send a small disc through a metal hoop while vying for recognition from scouts across the world. But for the last several years, a star player from Diasomnia Dorm has swept the competition and destroyed any chance of other players being noticed. Despite the new subtitle for this series, this is more of a sequel than a different storyline in the same universe. Readers would benefit from finishing “Book of Heartslabyul” and having familiarity with the mobile game. While this volume includes some exposition and character introductions to set the stage, fans will be especially excited to see beloved characters, heightening the overall experience.
