PreS-Gr 4—Hailing from Michigan, the Deep Fried Pickle Project retains their folksy roots in jug band music on their most recent album, as accompanying instruments include string bass, kazoo, spoons, harmonica, banjo, and jaw harp. These 15 original and traditional songs will have listeners tapping their toes and clapping along. Kid-friendly, fun lyrics offer gentle warnings ("Picklejuice" and "Sgt. Safety"), funny lists ("The Grossest Song Ever," "The Sucking Song"), tributes to parents ("Your Biggest Fan," "Daddy, Daddy," "You Are"), and traditional tunes ("Worms" and "The Cat Came Back"). Among the other standouts are "G and B Bot" (a mysterious ballad about robots that keep boys and girls away) and "Lemonade Stand" (a bluesy tune about siblings selling lemonade).
